Nathan Goswell – Capturing SD&G, One Brushstroke at a Time

2025 Raisin River Canoe Race
Last week, we featured one of his nostalgic prints in our Throwback Corner—and with the Raisin River Canoe Race happening this weekend, it felt like the perfect time to spotlight the artist himself.
Nathan Goswell , a talented illustrator and painter from Long Sault , has a gift for turning small-town scenes into vibrant works of art. Whether it’s a familiar corner store bathed in summer light or the energy of a canoe race on the Raisin River, Nathan captures the heart and heritage of our region in a way that’s both deeply personal and widely appreciated.
His work celebrates the places we know and love, and reminds us why our community is so special. You can explore more of his art—or snag a print for your own wall—at shopnathangoswell.com .

The Creation of Long Sault Parkway

Ariel View of The Parkway
Did you know? The Long Sault Parkway is made up of 11 islands that were formed from high points of land left behind after the flooding of the St. Lawrence River during the construction of the Seaway in the 1950s .
What was once farmland and communities is now one of the area's most scenic and beloved spots—drawing campers, cyclists, runners, photographers , and nature lovers from near and far to enjoy its breathtaking views. A piece of local history turned into a destination!
PET OF THE WEEK
πΎ
Charlie the Peanut Butter Globe-Trotter

Charlie <3
This week’s star is Charlie , a 4-year-old cockapoo with a passport more impressive than most of ours! He’s already been to five countries —and yes, he’s wagged his tail in every one of them.
Charlie is known for his next-level fluffiness , his incredibly sweet nature, and his absolute obsession with peanut butter (just take one look at that face and try not to smile). Whether he’s snuggled up on the couch or charming strangers on his travels, Charlie spreads joy wherever he goes.

π
Double the Libraries, Double the Fun!
Great news for book lovers! The SDG Library and North Grenville Public Library have officially teamed up to offer reciprocal borrowing —which means you can now borrow books, movies, and more from both library systems (will still need to sign up and be a member to each library). π
Whether you're a resident of SDG or North Grenville, this new partnership makes it easier than ever to access more materials, programs, and resources across our region. It's a win for readers, families, students—and anyone who loves a good story. π π
